HOW TO MAKE THE BEST PROTEIN PANCAKES

One of the best things about this recipe is how well these protein pancakes freeze!

Sometimes I will make a big batch of these pancakes, eat a couple for breakfast, and freeze the rest for busy mornings. I let my pancakes cool completely on a wire rack, place them on a baking tray in the freezer for about an hour and then transfer them to a freezer safe plastic bag.

They will last about 2 months in the freezer. Just take a couple out, thaw, reheat them in the microwave or toaster, and enjoy!!

Egg White Powder Vs Raw Egg Whites:

I like using the egg white powder vs raw egg whites because its fast and easy. You dont have to separate the yolks from the whites, and the powder stores well for a long time.

That said, you can make zero carb egg white pancakes using a carton of egg whites and save time as well. Either way, you can get lots of protein without a lot of carbohydrates or fat.

Note: These low carb pancakes make great snacks or desserts too. Eat them for lunch, dinner or after a workout. Try them as a sandwich bread replacement or add them to any meal where you want to boost your protein.

Easy And Healthy Protein Pancake Recipes

Lets start with the ingredients. Youll need the following 8 items:

  • Rolled Oats: First, well start with 2 cups of rolled oats. These will create the base of the pancake batter.
  • Banana: For a bit of natural sweet flavor, add 1 small banana.
  • Egg Whites: Next, 1/2 cup of egg whites will help bind the ingredients together and will contribute to the pancakes fluffy texture.
  • Protein Powder: Heres where the powder comes in. Include 2 scoops of your favorite protein powder vanilla is best! You can also use unflavored if thats what you have.
  • Cinnamon: To add more flavor, include 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  • Baking Powder: 1/2 tsp of baking powder will help the pancakes cook properly.
  • Salt: A dash of salt creates a subtle salty x sweet combo.
  • Almond Milk: Finally, finish things off with 1 cup of almond milk.

Put your rolled oats into a blender on high until it turns into powder. Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend well. Lightly grease your nonstick pan over medium heat. Then scoop in your batter, cooking for 1 to 2 minutes until the bubbles form on the top. Flip and cook another 1 to 2 minutes, then serve right away with all your favorite toppings.

Protein Powder Pancakes Texture

If youve attempted to make protein pancakes before and they turned out chewy, rubbery, with a weird after taste, you can leave the experience behind. Now you have a delicious and healthy pancake recipe thats easy to make.

Compared to regular pancakes, protein pancakes arent as fluffy but that doesnt mean they are any less delicious. They have a soft, spongy texture that absorbs a drizzle of syrup, which in my books, is a successful pancake.

How To Add Protein To Pancakes

Traditionally, pancakes are not very high in protein. Fortunately, it is very easy to increase the protein amount by making your own homemade pancakes and adding just a few simple ingredients.

I love using high-quality, plant-based protein to increase the protein in my pancakes, and Ive found cleanish Vanilla Bean Protein to be a great addition.

To make your breakfast pancakes more nutritious and filling, adding protein-rich ingredient and whole foods, like the following are great:

  • full fat greek yogurt

Adding just one or a combo of the above ingredients is a great way to up the protein count of your pancakes plus theyre also super tasty!

Friends, this recipe couldnt be any easier.

But, really.

You dont need a how-to section. Combine your ingredients and make pancakes. Thats it. The only thing I would say is that you want to add milk slowly until you get a smooth drippy batter. Then, flip your pancakes as soon as you can slide your spatula under to flip them. They dont bubble like other pancakes.

PS I used 1/4 cup per pancake.

Super Easy Egg White Pancake Recipe:

Heres my basic recipe:

1 Tsp Xanthan Gum or Glucomannan)Optional: add salt and/or a non-calorie sweetener to taste

Note: You can use Xanthan Gum and Glucomannan interchangeably they both act as thickeners/stabilizers. How do they differ nutritionally? Xanthan Gum has 2 grams of fiber per teaspoon, whereas Glucomannan has 4 grams per teaspoon.

I prefer Glucomannan because it helps lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. However, if you want fewer carbs, choose Xanthan Gum.

I whip up the batter in a bullet blender and then pour it onto a skillet or griddle . Make sure you spray your cooking surface well, because egg whites tend to be sticky.

Macro-ingredients and nutrition facts: 1 cup of egg white protein powder supplies 80 grams of protein with 380 calories. It does not contain any fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, sugar or fiber.

How To Make Protein Pancakes:

  • Add oats and baking powder to a blender and blend to make a fine powder.
  • Pour into a mixing bowl and add the cottage cheese, eggs, water, vanilla, oil, and cinnamon. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into the bowl with the oats and stir everything to combine.
  • Use a ¼ cup measuring spoon to spoon the pancakes onto a hot greased griddle. Cook until golden on both sides. Serve warm with fruit and real maple syrup.

Expert Tips For Making Protein Pancakes

PROTEIN RICOTTA PANCAKES
  • Use whey protein powder for best results. Whey protein is best for baking and will result in lighter and fluffier pancakes that dont have a gummy texture. Plant-based protein powder will have a more dense texture.
  • Make sure you like the protein powder you use. This is VERY important. If you dont like the taste and texture of the protein powder to begin with, you wont like it in the pancakes.
  • Dont overmix the batter. Overmixing will cause the air bubbles in the batter to pop and will create more dense pancakes. Mix just until combined.
  • Add your favourite mix-ins. Try adding in some blueberries, chocolate chips, a drizzle of peanut butter or whatever you like!

We are huge fans of pancakes in our house. I love them on the weekend or just as a post-workout breakfast. I mean lets be honest, they are basically just a blank canvas for all your favorite toppings.

My favorite thing about this recipe is you can use whey protein powder or a plant-based protein powder. I took a pool on and about 40% of people said they use whey and 40% use plant-based.

I know how frustrating it is to try protein powder recipes and for them not to come out as its a waste of food and expensive protein powder. So I tested them both ways and you only have to tweak the liquid slightly due to their different consistencies. And both ways are equally delicious!

Protein Pancakes Recipe with Protein Powder – In 60 seconds – Recipe by Warren Nash

Using almond flour for these pancakes means that your batter will lack the binding agent known as gluten. You may have issues with your pancakes falling apart. A good way to fix this is by adding a little bit of additional almond flour to the batter to thicken it and making sure that one side of the pancake is completely cooked before attempting to flip it over.
