Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Isolate Benefits & Effectiveness
As mentioned, this whey is surprisingly low in sodium and cholesterol, along with being practically free from carbs and fat. Its true that the gram of carb means it isnt pure protein and there are some competing isolates on the market that manage to cut out that last gram, but in my opinion the taste suffers enormously.
Ill discuss the taste below, but its worth pointing out that this isnt an all natural product: its got artificial flavors and sweeteners, plus it contains soy lecithin to help with mixability. We are not of the opinion that soy or artificial sweeteners are necessarily bad for you, but we cant deny that there are people who try to avoid them.
This also isnt completely lactose free we spoke to Optimum Nutrition and they confirmed this is about 95 percent lacrosse free, so its extremely unlikely to cause any issues. However, if youre very intolerant to lactose it may give you pause, particularly as there re no digestive enzymes like lactase added to the product.
Unless youre extremely concerned about carbs say, if youre on a ketogenic diet this is a very effective way to add inexpensive, high quality protein to your diet.
