This might mean bloating and possibly even diarrhea after drinking the protein shake, he adds.
Protein isolates require an additional step to remove most of the carbohydrates and fat remaining from the concentrate. This leaves you with about 90% pure protein or more, says Dr. Pedre. In terms of whey protein, theres reduced risk of a reaction to dairy proteins, but youre not completely in the clear if you have a sensitivity to dairy, he says.
